LA JUNTA, Colo. (KKTV) – A locally-owned dry cleaning business was destroyed in a fire early Monday morning.

La Junta firefighters battled the flames for more than an hour, finally getting the fire under control at 4:42 a.m.

A witness who works at the Safeway a block away said she stepped out the back door around 4 a.m. and saw the building that houses Star Cleaners engulfed in flames.

Star Cleaners is located on West 3rd Street and Safeway on West 2nd.

Due to the large monetary loss, arson investigators are now assisting the fire department in finding a cause and origin for the fire.

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – A late night fire in Rocky River left a number of business with damage.

Firefighters were called out to the fire  just after 11 p.m. Saturday. The blaze started in a dry cleaner’s storage room located in a strip mall at 19373 Hilliard Boulevard. Some nearby businesses, including Bucci’s Pizza & Restaurant and a convenience store sustained smoke damage.

Fire departments from  Lakewood, Westlake and Fairview Park were called in to assist with the firefighting efforts.

The state fire marshal will be investigating the site on Sunday, since the cause of the fire could not be determined right away.

There were no injuries and a damage estimate is not yet final.

Report: Electric motor blamed for Valparaiso fire

The electric motor that powered the clothing rack at Colonial Cleaners caused the June 13 fire that badly damaged the cleaners and a neighboring salon and sent smoke into several other businesses at Thornapple Plaza, forcing their evacuation, according to a preliminary report on the cause of the fire by the Valparaiso Fire Department.

Security cameras inside the cleaners, at 1761 Morthland Drive, captured what happened, said John Kroll, the fire department’s division chief. The preliminary report was complete Friday, and he expects a full report to be done in two to three months.
